Recycling

Operating from our Reservoir and Campbellfield film recycling, extrusion and remanufacturing plants, Plastic Technology utilises the latest in plastic production processes to manufacture blown film products for many nationally renowned commercial, industrial and household brands.

A sophisticated washing / treatment plant enables the business to produce resin for the remanufacture of LDPE film and bags made from 100% post consumer domestic and industrial plastic waste. The plastic waste is sorted, shredded and thoroughly washed to remove all dirt and other impurities. The plastic is then dried and extruded into high quality resin beads. Resin production currently exceeds 4,500 Tons per annum and all resin is used by Plastic Technology in its own film manufacturing.

Plastic Technology can offer a wide range of quality products, remanufactured from 100% recycled plastic collected primarily in Victoria. Increasing the use of recycled products has an enormous impact on the environment; independent studies have shown that products made from recycled rather than virgin polyethylene results in the following environmental benefits:

  • Reduction of energy consumption by two thirds.
  • Production of only one third of the sulphur dioxide and half the nitrous oxide.
  • Reduction of water usage by 90%.
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas Carbon Dioxide by two and a half tonnes.
  • It is estimated that 1.8 tonnes of oil are saved for every tonne of recycled polyethylene produced.

As a market leader in recycling and remanufacturing, Plastic Technology has demonstrated its ability to consistently meet environmental, social and industry responsibilities.
